Great pictures, Thomas. Looks very elegant. Size is just right for a dress watch and I love the applied numerals and index markers. If I were allowed to change things a bit, I would make the chapter ring thinner as it seems too deep. Moreover, the big day/date window somehow clutters the beautiful dial texture and design. This watch would look better without the day/date window and with a complete set of 3,6,9,12 numbers on the face. Hope you can add the different dial colors to your post, Thomas.

I don't know many 40-year HR people at all. I think most of us burnout and do something else… unless we work for the government and need our pensions.
There's something to be said for the CFO relating better to numbers than to people. I worked with a CFO who wouldn't interview fat people. (Have I told this story before?) They're all lazy. He verbally told this to me — and I responded with something like, “Yeah, I wouldn't say that publicly ever again.” I was 24 at the time. Naive corporate recruiter. He gave me feedback on my year-end review that I wasn't screening out lazy candidates. Unbelievable. Asshole.

I own the watch and would say that you are more correct. When the light hits it it does indeed look more like gun metal. In normal ambient indoor light it appears black. It's a nice treatment. Quartz is a mineral… So it probably means the quartz was found in Switzerland or processed there. Swiss made would probably mean that the whole watch was made in Switzerland (as opposed to China or something). Just guessing though… I don't really use watches. >.<
Unless you actually signed a contract with the organization, you're not obligated to continue working there. All contracts, whether verbal or written, must have termination clauses. I doubt a job posting had that.
Talk to HR about other opportunities in the organization and explain your feelings about how you feel the person/job fit is not right. Also, you could also start looking elsewhere for employment.
